How to Change the Domain Name for Outgoing SMTP Mail¶

Applies to: TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Version 5.7 or later

By default, the From: and Return-Path: headers show the sender’s name along with their fully qualified domain name.

To change the domain used for outgoing SMTP mail, specify a fully qualified domain name in the TCPIP$SMTP_COMMON:TCPIP$SMTP.CONF file.

The specified value overrides the default sender domain.

SMTP services must be restarted for the new settings to take effect.
