Configure Local Mail Handling

Configuring local mail handling is optional, but recommended.

If you configure a substitute domain such as OPENVMS.COM, SMTP may interpret mail addressed to that domain as local mail.

To prevent this behavior, locate the No-Subs-Domain-Inbound parameter in the file and set it to TRUE:

No-Subs-Domain-Inbound        : TRUE

This setting applies to the Symbiont and Receiver components within the MAIL$PROTOCOL subsystem.

This instructs SMTP not to treat mail addressed to the substitute domain as local mail.

By default (FALSE), mail sent to the substitute domain is considered local.
