Booting VSI OpenVMS on KVM¶

The booting procedure may differ depending on your version of VSI OpenVMS.

V9.2-3 and earlierE9.2-4

At the BOOTMGR> prompt, execute BOOT device-name, where device-name is the name of the virtual CD/DVD device to which your VSI OpenVMS installation ISO is assigned.

Alternatively, you can use a Fibre Channel disk as a bootable device. See Booting OpenVMS from a Fibre Channel Disk on how to configure the UEFI accordingly.

It is possible to boot VSI OpenVMS with Secure Boot enabled. To do so, you are required to register an OpenVMS-specific certificate first.
- If you have created a virtual machine with Secure Boot enabled by default (for example, using the script in the Creating a KVM Virtual Machine section), follow the procedure for manual certificate registration in Adding OpenVMS Certificate to the Machine Owner Key Database.
- If the Secure Boot functionality is disabled by default in your VM configuration, refer to the Secure Boot section for more details on how to enable it.
